Known as The First Lady of House, Carita La Nina is one of the most popular female DJ’s Holland’s got to offer. With her joyful appearance and superb skills, this talent stands her ground in the Dutch dance scene, setting an example for all women who are trying to survive in this manly world. Still learning and improving, Carita nowadays performs at the biggest venues in the country, giving the visitors a tasteful mix of all sorts of house music. She has a natural instinct when it comes to working the crowd and isn’t afraid of challenging people to walk the side paths of mysterious minimal and deep techhouse. Adding her own smashing productions to her sets, Carita has the complete package to shake things up and let the club bounce on powerful house beats!
The road to success has been a long one for Carita, but already at a young age she knew this was the one to take. Before her ambitions led to the DJ’ing part, she was working at Fat Beats Amsterdam, a famous record store for the Hip Hop community. It was during this time when she came in touch with all-round DJ Melly Mel, who taught her the basics of mixing. It turned out to be the beginning of a new career, which soon brought her on tv! The Dutch comedian Dolf Janssen asked young Carita to assist in his program “Later Wordt Het Leuk!” (Later It Will Be Fun!). In the show Carita is responsible for the opening music and funny tunes to suite the subjects that are talked about by Dolf and his guests.
It is there where she gets spotted by Pierre Papa, who asked Carita to host her own radio show on FunX. Alongside DJ Chuckie, Carita presented FunX Club every Friday night for about a year. After that, Carita moved on to work fulltime at the well known party organization ID&T, where she became responsible for the promotion of several big events. The job showed her many insights of working behind the scenes, which eventually turned out to be of great use in her following career.
Cool fact to know is that Carita got accepted into the exclusive Red Bull Music Acadamy in 2006. With loads of knowledge and experience obtained, Carita seemed ready to jump in the deep and fulfill her dreams as a professional DJ. Ever since, she has worked her way to the top by constantly proving herself in the clubs, which soon was noticed by the famous booking agency ACE. As a member of the ACE family, Carita continues to rock the club scene with love and passion. And using her creativity in the studio also seems to pay of, resulting in pumping house tracks like “Permission Granted” (recently released on the Dirty Dutch Compilation CD of 2008) and "Halfway There" (released on The HRMNN Compilation and her remix of "It's The Beat" (released on Dancetunes).
Carita is now ready to whip up everyone will be in the pride of Hersonissos nightlife – Matrix Club – as she will be on the decks of Matrix every Wednesday of Hersonissos summer 2009.
